Who I Am

At my heart of hearts, I’m a storyteller. Whatever the medium — words, design, dance, or my life — I am always seeking out stories and sharing with the world. My most frequent storytelling medium of choice is, unsurprisingly, words. I fell in love with books at a young age and to this day maintain that I should never be allowed in a bookstore unsupervised — it never ends well for my wallet. My dream is to one day write books, using my gift as a writer to cause people to look beyond the story and back to the Savior.

My faith is the most important part of my life and my identity rests in Christ, first and foremost. I’ve spent most of my life as a control freak, a planner, and a very type-A personality. As I continue to navigate the often bumpy road that is life as a 20-something believer, I’m learning to shed the expectations I have for myself and to just live. I’m learning to take delight in the Lord who made me and who loves me in every way possible, and seeking to share that kind of beauty, love, and delight with the world around me.

My philosophy on life is that God is good, stories can be our greatest source of learning, and the little beauties and delights in life are often the best. I love brightly painted toenails, big sunglasses, belly-aching laughter, cookies straight from the oven, and beautiful notes of encouragement.

I grew up as a Navy brat, gallivanting around the world initially by force and ultimately by choice. I’ve been to three continents, twelve countries, and over forty states. I smile big, I laugh loud, and I dance in the middle of grocery stores. I make crazy faces, can school anyone in a Disney trivia competition, and get incredibly passionate about the accuracy of book-to-movie adaptations.

I’ve just begun a new season of life as a Staff Copywriter on the marketing team at Adventures, and I am so excited to see what the Lord is going to do in the coming months and years during my time with Adventures.
